Biography:


SYED IMAD-UD-DIN ASAD did his Bachelor of Arts (B.A.), from University of the Punjab, in 1998; Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.), from University of Peshawar, in 2002; and Master of Laws (LL.M.), from Harvard Law School, in 2007. He also did a certificate course in Islamic studies, from International Islamic University, in 2001.

Mr. Asad has kept his professional and academic interest hand in hand.

Mr. Asad has given talks on Islamic finance, Islamic law, and Pakistani legal system at KU Leuven (Belgium), University of Antwerp (Belgium), Czech Academy of Sciences (Czech Republic), Cevro Institute (Czech Republic), Heidelberg University (Germany), University of Munster (Germany), Friedrich-Alexander University (Germany), EBS Law School (Germany), Boston University School of Law (U.S.A.), and Boston College (U.S.A.).

Since 1994, Mr. Asad has published 45 op-eds in The News and Dawn. Since 2002, Mr. Asad has published 11 research articles in the Pakistan Law Journal.

Since 2010, Mr. Asad has negotiated and concluded various collaborative arrangements between Pakistani organizations and their counterparts in Belgium, France, Germany, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, and the U.S.A.

In 2013, International Academy of Comparative Law elected Mr. Asad as the first associate member from Pakistan.

In 2014, the Government of the Punjab appointed Mr. Asad on a six-member committee formed for the consolidation, simplification, and rationalization of labour laws in the Punjab.

In 2014, Mr. Asad gave lectures, at Punjab Judicial Academy, to Civil Judges and Senior Civil Judges, on application of international law in Pakistan.

From 2015 to 2017, Mr. Asad taught Islamic finance, as a Global Law Professor, at Faculty of Law, KU Leuven, Belgium. In 2017, Mr. Asad presented a paper on Islamic finance at the first international conference held at Faculty of Law, KU Leuven, Belgium.
